I wonder how Coach Johnson and the off-season girl’s basketball squad did in a pick up game at the Austin High gym the other day? The opponents were Jake Gyllenhaal and the band, Mumford & Sons.

Austin High LaCrosse wins district

Austin High boys lacrosse defeated Westwood 7-2 to take the Central Division with a record of 9-1. Now they hope to make a run for state behind Central Division coach of the year, Andy Garrigan. The game with Westwood was featured last night on MyFoxAustin.

Roudebush finishing College Career

Nice article about former Austin High golfer, Scott Roudebush, in Thursday’s Statesman. Scott is winding up a fine career at TCU with a pro career looming. He won the 2009 Firecracker Open and is a 3-time Mountain West all-academic selection.

Baptista races to 3rd at Texas Relays

Austin High’s Rachel Baptista placed 3rd in the 3200-meter run at the Texas Relays on Saturday. The University of Colorado-bound star ran the distance in 10:40.44.

Ben Crenshaw has 8:18 tee time

Austin High grad and 2-time Masters winner Ben Crenshaw is making news this week. His caddie, Carl Jackson, is carrying clubs for his 50th Masters this week – the last 35 have been with Gentle Ben. Good luck, Ben!

Good week for Softball team

This was a good week for Lady Maroon softball. They posted victories over rival Bowie and Del Valle and were ranked 3rd in the Statesman’s Centex ratings. Austin High is now in first place in district with a 4-0 record with a 10-game winning streak.
